GREG PHILP FCA
Greg’s career started in Central Birmingham, working on the ‘big deals’ for over 15 years. This experience has given him a ton of financial and legal expertise (we call him the legal legend in the office), but when Greg noticed small businesses didn’t have access to the advice and support he could offer, he made the move to work with these owner-managers.
He’s the numbers guy, the deal-maker, and the translator of complex documents into a language you understand.
Out of the office he’s known as Uncle Greg and spends his weekends watching nephews playing rugby and football or the games at his local football club.
The Team
HOLLY ANDREWS FCCA
Having originally trained as a Nurse, Holly had to change careers due to health conditions, but her desire to help people never went away.
Her nursing background brings compassion to an industry that is traditionally focused on just the numbers and she has particular skills in handling stressful situations as well as being hardwired to look after people.
Holly provides wider support throughout deals, bringing her killer project management skills to the team (as well as some much-needed Northern common sense).
She'll be the calm coordinator throughout your deal, ensuring you're fully supported throughout the process.
Despite living in the Midlands for the last 10 years, she’s still a Northern girl at heart and you’ll never find her without a brew.
Greg and Holly are both Certified Qualified Accountants. Between them, they’ve got 40 years combined experience so you’re in good hands.
Horizon is a blend of two approaches.
Greg likes to zoom in and focus on the details – unpicking complicated T&Cs and crunching the numbers to show how that actually breaks down into pounds and pence. He knows how to negotiate with buyers in a way that gets you the best price and best deal, whilst also ensuring he doesn’t impact the commercial relationships or other stakeholders. He’s going to be the one looking over legal agreements, including the negotiation of terms and liaising with legal teams to formalise deals, making sure that there are no devils in your details.
In contrast, Holly prefers a panoramic view, navigating the path that needs to be taken and guiding everyone along - including your CF team, your lawyers, your accountants, your buyers, their lawyers and their advisors.
She sets the pace, making sure no one is left behind. While it’s important to stay on track and keep up the momentum, it’s also important to listen to your gut and take a pause when you need to catch your breath and it’s feeling too hard to carry on.
We’re not going to lie to you, the path can be long, tricky, tiring and stressful but equally, it’s worth it for the view at the top.
